Microsoft and developer Forgotten Empires have announced that the highly anticipated remake of the classic real-time strategy game Age of Mythology will be launching on September 4.
Age of Mythology: Retold on the way
Age of Mythology: Retold will be available on Xbox Series X|S consoles through the Xbox Games Store as well as on PC through Steam. It will also be available on Day One for Xbox Game Pass subscribers across console and PC.
To coincide with the release date reveal, a new gameplay trailer for Age of Mythology: Retold was released, giving fans a first look at how the game has been rebuilt from the ground up with all-new graphics and visuals while retaining the legendary gameplay of summoning mythical gods and units from Greek, Norse, Egyptian and Atlantean mythologies to do battle.
More details were shared on the game’s Steam page, outlining features like choosing from different pantheons of gods, commanding diverse mythological units, and embarking on an epic 50-mission mythical storyline across different cultures and worlds. Both single player and cooperative multiplayer modes will be available at launch.
Post-launch, a new Arena of the Gods mode will be added for both solo and co-op challenges. The Standard Edition of the game will cost $29.99 while a Premium Edition priced at $49.99 includes bonus content and one week early access. Owners of the original Age of Mythology on Steam can also get a discount on the Premium Edition.
